    Downtown Ball & Gala | 7:00PM-11:00PM

We invite you to attend the 2011 Downtown Ball, a charitable fundraising event presented annually by the Downtown St. Louis Foundation, a 501C-3 organization, in cooperation with The Partnership for Downtown St. Louis.  The event showcases Downtown’s unique venues, celebrates its renaissance as a vibrant urban center, and raises charitable proceeds committed to support improvements to the Downtown neighborhood that benefit the public, and advance the goals of the Downtown Next vision for 2020. This year’s Downtown Ball is very exciting because this will be the first charity fundraising event to be held in the newly restored Peabody Opera House. Net proceeds for this year’s Downtown Ball will go toward a Challenge Grant awarded to the National Blues Museum, a proposed world-class cultural attraction to be located in Downtown St. Louis, focused on education, entertainment and community involvement. With 25,000 square feet of programming space, a 150-seat theater as well as technology and artifact-driven exhibits, the National Blues Museum will be a national civic asset honoring those who gave us the gift of modern American music.  For more information, contact Shuntaé Shields Ryan at 314.436.6500 ext. 240.

With events and excitement year-round, the MX radiates with metropolitan energy. It promises a welcoming environment for families, offers diverse amenities and options for downtown residents and office workers, and serves as a gathering place that connects the many popular tourist, nightlife and entertainment attractions already in the downtown St. Louis area.

The Mercantile Exchange (MX) is downtown St. Louis’ newest shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture, commercial and residential destination. The district is comprised of the area surrounding the MX and Laurel Buildings at 7th Street and Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis.
