National Blues Museum

The National Blues Museum (NBM) celebrates the blues as the foundation of American music. This not-for-profit cultural and civic centerpiece will drive international tourism, educate and entertain visitors, and add to the cultural diversity of the MX.

In addition to performances, meetings and education in the NBM Theater, the museum’s public programs will include:

  • Lectures
  • Film and documentary screenings
  • Acoustic performances
  • Q&A sessions with national artists and music industry professionals
  • Onsite and in-classroom opportunities to explore the history of blues music and its influence on rock and roll, hip hop, jazz, gospel and R&B.

We have a long way to go before this is a reality. The Downtown Ball and Bluesweek were big steps forward but please make your contribution to honor this great history today! DONATE NOW!

With events and excitement year-round, the MX radiates with metropolitan energy. It promises a welcoming environment for families, offers diverse amenities and options for downtown residents and office workers, and serves as a gathering place that connects the many popular tourist, nightlife and entertainment attractions already in the downtown St. Louis area.

The Mercantile Exchange (MX) is downtown St. Louis’ newest shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture, commercial and residential destination. The district is comprised of the area surrounding the MX and Laurel Buildings at 7th Street and Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis.
